The Atlanta Hawks have the No. 15 pick in the NBA Draft, and there has been a lot of clutter to sort through as to their plans with the pick. Here are three rumors you need to know:
1) Bobby Portis Top Target?
Portis' name has been heavily connected with Atlanta over the past few months, and numerous mock drafts have him going No. 15 to the Hawks. At 6'11" and 245 pounds, Portis has elite size for a power forward, but has the athleticism and shooting ability to be an effective stretch four in the NBA. As a team-first guy, Portis is a perfect fit for Atlanta.
2) Will Atlanta Trade Up?
The Hawks have a plethora of picks over the next few years thanks to the Joe Johnson trade with the Nets, and Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution thinks they may package some picks to trade up in the draft:
Trading up is a possibility, especially with two second-round picks and an extra one next year courtesy of the Nets. Trading back becomes an option if a favorite or one of the top 20 players they've identified falls. Trading picks for a current NBA player or international player is an option.
3) Are The Hawks Considering Jerian Grant?
Another rumor making the rounds about Atlanta is their interest in Notre Dame guard Jerian Grant, who projects to be a combo guard at the next level. The Hawks are already stacked in the backcourt with Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver, and Dennis Schroder, but they think Grant is someone who can make an impact in the league right away. He's probably a fall back option if Portis is off the board.
