Former Atlanta Hawks superstar Dikembe Mutombo has conducted an initial meeting with a group of investors who are interested in buying the team.
Per Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the group, which is made up in part of Atlanta businessmen, has begun the preliminary work to get involved in the sale of the team. Talks are ongoing. The group may also consist of other former NBA players. They hope to meet with the NBA commissioner’s office in the near future.
Mutombo did not respond to AJC's attempts to contact his foundation's office in Atlanta.
At the present moment, a majority share of the team is available for sale. The team's Washington ownership group, headed by Bruce Levenson and his 24 percent individual share, are selling their stake in the team.
It is yet to be seen whether or not the Atlanta group (34 percent) and New York group (16 percent) will follow suit as well.
Stay tuned.
