FLOWERY BRANCH – The Falcons, who have struggled at times in pass coverage from the linebacker position, added former Georgia Tech star Philip Wheeler, who went through his first practice with the team on Wednesday.
Wheeler, 30, has made 60 starts in the NFL. He has played for Indianapolis, Oakland and Miami. He was in camp with the San Francisco 49ers, but was slowed by a muscle strain and released in August.
