The Falcons defense has subtracted Vic Beasley, Desmond Trufant, and De’Vondre Campbell, among others. To make up for that, they added Dante Fowler, A.J. Terrell, Marlon Davidson, and Mykal Walker, again among others. Raheem Morris is the defensive coordinator now after Dan Quinn’s disastrous half-season stewardship, so the changes have legitimately been significant on that side of the ball.
Will that translate into actual improvement? We’ve spent a fair amount of time talking about the defense—and there’s much more to come—but not much time talking about whether or not we’re actually going to see the kind of capable defense we’ve been chomping at the bit for.
