New Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian said he remains in treatment to battle alcoholism and expressed gratitude toward the organization for giving him an opportunity despite the disease.
The 42-year-old Sarkisian, most recently the offensive coordinator under Nick Saban at Alabama, was named the Falcons' offensive coordinator Tuesday, replacing new San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan.
"I think that when you look back on things -- and we all go through things in life -- everybody has issues that they have to deal with; some physical, some mental," Sarkisian said of alcoholism.
