The Falcons have one of the best kickers in football in Matt Bryant, a fact that I think is more or less indisputable. Were it not for Adam Vinatieri, Bryant would probably be considered the leading NFL miracle at the kicker position, given both his effectiveness and age.
But Bryant is going to miss this first preseason game, handing duties over to former Wofford and Georgia kicker David Marvin, which is a small but stark reminder that Bryant is 43 years old. He takes care of himself and he’s one of the toughest dudes you’ll ever encounter, but even for the greats, there are no guarantees after age 40.
