The Falcons spent Tuesday trying to replace Jacob Tamme.
The Atlanta Falcons announced that the team has released veteran offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus, and brought back former practice squad tight end Micky Shuler.
Polumbus has been living on borrowed time since the team signed Jake Long. While Polumbus had experience in Kyle Shanahan's blocking scheme from his time in Washington, he struggled mightily in preseason. Long will likely operate as the team's swing tackle, unless he eventually moves into the starting lineup. Cutting Polumbus at this time indicates that Long is coming along well and remains healthy.
