Raheem Morris already signaled that his number one priority in preseason is keeping his most vital starters healthy for the regular season, so it’s no great surprise that the list of inactives for the Atlanta Falcons against the Baltimore Ravens is once again a lengthy list.
What is a surprise is that Michael Penix, who is locked in as the team’s backup but isn’t going to get to play much during the regular season if all goes well with Kirk Cousins, is among those inactives. The major injuries to Bralen Trice and DeMarcco Hellams in last week’s preseason game against the Dolphins has convinced Morris and company that Penix, who is vital insurance for Cousins, isn’t a player worth taking chances with in exchange for limited preseason snaps.
