When Matt Ryan was a fresh-faced rookie out of Boston College back in 2008, he was throwing passes to the likes of Roddy White, Michael Jenkins, and Harry Douglas. In 2019 at 34 years old, he’s throwing to the likes of Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, and Russell Gage. That receiving corps, in other words, has changed a lot.
Ryan hasn’t really changed, though. He’s refined his game a lot, becoming more comfortable throwing passes with anticipation and timing and making plays with his legs, but he’s been durable and consistent throughout the last decade-plus, even with a couple of down years—and he’s kind of in one now, unfortunately—mixed in.
