Two-time All-Pro and Pro Bowl wide receiver Roy Green, who played 14 NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles, lost a wager with Atlanta Falcons standout Julio Jones years ago. That didn't keep Green from making another seemingly unwise bet against Jones going into 2016.
Green, who began mentoring Jones before the 2011 draft, previously dangled the 1,555 receiving yards (78 catches) he accumulated with the St. Louis Cardinals (1984) and dared Jones to match it. Well, Jones reached 1,593 yards on 104 catches two seasons ago and then followed with 1,871 yards on 136 catches last season -- the second-highest single-season total in NFL history.
