FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Atlanta Falcons tackle Jake Matthews was reminded of just how hard it is to get to the Super Bowl as confetti rained over the Georgia Dome after Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.
It was staring him in his eyes.
It was his 55-year-old dad, Bruce, a 14-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman and member of the 2007 Pro Football Hall of Fame.
“We were just talking about it took him 17 years ... to get to the Super Bowl, and it took me three,” Jake Matthews said Wednesday as the Falcons began preparing to face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI.
