ATLANTA -- Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman surpassed 1,000 yards for the season after gaining 20 yards on the team’s first drive in Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Freeman, a second-year player from Florida State, reached 1,000 yards on his fifth carry, a three-yard run. He became the first Falcon to reach 1,000 since Michael Turner in 2011.
Freeman entered Sunday’s season finale with 980 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns on 240 carries.
