The Atlanta Falcons are 6-2, going through a difficult stretch of lousy football, and have to travel to the West Coast. The 49ers are 2-6, brutally bad, and just swapped out starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick for backup Blaine Gabbert. This is not, in other words, a matchup of two great teams.
The show must go on, however, and the hope is that the Falcons will find some of the play that defined the first month of their season en route to their seventh win of the season. That means fewer turnovers, of course, and it means ensuring the 49ers don't find offensive success because of defensive lapses.
