With Rondale Moore suffering a season-ending injury, I suggested the other day that the Atlanta Falcons would be unlikely to stand pat with their roster, given the versatile Moore’s likely role as a receiver, returner, and possibly even runner. With the first preseason game against the Dolphins in the books, Atlanta is making a move to fill the void left by Moore’s injury with a dynamic receiver and returner.
That would be Jakeem Grant, the 5’6” speedster who has twice been named a second-team All-Pro. Once a prolific returner and capable receiver who logged 36 receptions for 373 yards in 2020 and boasts four career punt return touchdowns and two kick return scores, Grant has missed the past two seasons with injury and is on the wrong side of 30, which means we should set reasonable expectations for the signing.
