The final day of cuts and the announcement of the initial 53-man roster generally signals the arrival of a calm before the storm of the NFL regular season. The Falcons opted against that approach, with a couple of moves which have changed the look of the running back room at Flowery Branch.
In a surprising turn of events, the Falcons announced the release of former fifth round draft selection Qadree Ollison, who was expected by many to be the team’s second string running back behind Mike Davis, with Cordarrelle Patterson also mixing in. In a corresponding move, they announced the signing of former Giants and 49ers running back Wayne Gallman to presumably take over that role instead.
