Vaughn McClure of ESPN is reporting that the Falcons are releasing veteran DT Tyson Jackson on Thursday.
Jackson, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2014. He signed a five-year, $25 million contract with the Falcons back in 2014 and was set to make a base salary of $3.5 million over the next two years.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Jackson will free up $2.65 million of available cap space while creating $3.2 million in dead money.
In 2016, Jackson appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and recorded 13 tackles, no sacks and a pass defense.
