FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Falcons safety William Moore will miss the remainder of the season after he was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a severely sprained ankle. The team also waived veteran wide receiver Leonard Hankerson.
Kemal Ishmael, a third-year pro who started twice earlier this season when Moore was out with a groin injury, will start in Moore’s spot when the Falcons (6-7) play at Jacksonville (5-8) Sunday.
The loss of the hard-hitting Moore, who went to the Pro Bowl after the 2012 season when he had 105 combined tackles and assists, four interceptions, eight pass breakups, two fumbles forced and a fumble recovery, is a blow to Atlanta’s run defense.
