The Atlanta Falcons are apparently close to getting one of their starters back from injured reserve, but it might not be the starter you expected. Punter Cameron Nizialek has been designated to return from IR and has begun practicing as of Wednesday. Atlanta now has 21 days to officially activate him from IR.
The team has had a run of bad injury luck at the punter position stretching all the way back to training camp. 2020 seventh-round pick Sterling Hofrichter and former UDFA Dom Maggio both missed significant time, with Hofrichter winding up on IR to start the season before eventually being cut.
