Once the Atlanta Falcons finish their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the hard work of cutting down from a 90 man roster to a 53 man roster will begin in earnest. By the time the dust settles at the deadline on Tuesday, August 27 at 4 p.m. EDT, the team will have cut loose 37 players and will then turn around and add some of them back to a 16 player practice squad.
With the 2024 season looming as a critical one—the Falcons haven’t had a winning season in the past six years, but the roster is talented enough to change that—getting those cutdowns right matters a great deal.
