The Falcons have their initial 53 man roster, as we chronicled yesterday, and there were a few smaller surprises among the cuts and keepers. A little later today, they’ll be able to build their 16 man practice squad out of the pool of players they and 31 other teams have cut.
The construction of this practice squad will be fascinating, because with a new regime in place, we don’t really know how many players they had over the summer will be returning. I’d bet heavily on running back Caleb Huntley and cornerback Chris Williamson, among others, but it would not be surprising to see this team snap up additions from other teams given how much Arthur Smith talked about how “fluid” things are and the “roster manipulation” coming across the league.
