Avoiding injury is one of the most important but difficult things for any NFL team to do in preseason. Unfortunately for the Falcons, they already lost one vital player to an injury just minutes into their first preseason matchup against the Dolphins.
That would be DeMarcco Hellams, who is tracking to be the team’s third safety. The physical Hellams is also a key special teams cog, but the Falcons have to cross their fingers and hope they won’t be without his services for a significant length of time after the cart came out for him Friday night.
