The kid from Tacoma, Washington, just became one of the league's highest-paid cornerbacks, but that won't keep Desmond Trufant from striving to elevate his game to another level.
Trufant, the Atlanta Falcons' first-round pick in the 2013 draft (22nd overall), was rewarded Saturday with a five-year, $69 million extension that included around $42 million guaranteed. His $40-plus million in guaranteed money puts the one-time Pro Bowler in an elite cornerback class that includes Josh Norman, Patrick Peterson, Joe Haden, Stephon Gilmore, and Richard Sherman.
