Philip Wheeler was fast, and I bet if you asked 49ers quarterback Blaine Gabbert, he would agree that he is indeed physical. Gabbert took a big hit from Wheeler that forced him to be briefly removed from the game as the medical personnel determined he needed an initial evaluation to ensure he had not been concussed.
Wheeler totaled 10 tackles in the game and constantly attacked ball carriers. He has good speed and size which makes him a good fit coach Dan Quinn’s system. He diagnoses plays very well and once he has his sights on the ball carriers he seeks and destroys like a missile.
