The Miami Hurricanes may have been in a bit of a down spell for the past decade or so, but the Atlanta Falcons still see raw talent worth checking out when it comes to the program's prospects in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Falcons officials, including new head coach Dan Quinn, traveled to Coral Gables, Florida this weekend to check out several Canes in a private workout.
The list of players they checked out is as follows (per the Atlanta Journal Constitution):
Phillips Dorsett, wide receiver
Anthony Chickillo, defensive lineman
Clive Walford, tight end
Duke Johnson, running back
Ladarius Gunter, defensive back
Ereck Flowers, offensive line
Linebacker Denzel Perryman didn’t work out, but did meet with the team.
Coach Quinn says he prefers these kind of private workouts to the hustle and bustle of university Pro Days.
“I enjoy that a little bit better just because you have the ability to connect more one-on-one with the players,” said Quinn, who has final say over the team's roster construction in 2015. “Some of the Pro Days, so many people are there and it’s so busy that it’s really like another version of the combine. When you get a chance to do (a private workout) with a player individually . . . When we have those opportunities to go visit with guys individually it makes all the difference as you could imagine.
“You just get more time to connect with the player and find out if this is the right fit for both sides.”
