Wood ejected in fifth inning against Pirates

ATLANTA -- Braves starter Alex Wood was ejected after the top of the fifth inning in the series finale with the Pirates at Turner Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Atlanta left-hander had words with home-plate umpire Mark Carlson after allowing three runs in the inning.

The rough inning for Wood began after he walked Pittsburgh starter Gerrit Cole. Wood started the at-bat to Cole with a low and inside fastball at 92 mph -- the left-hander's hardest pitch at that point in the game.

Wood went inside on Cole after the Pirates righty plunked Freddie Freeman in the third inning, and Andrelton Simmons in the fourth inning.
