Byrce Elder has been one of the best pitchers in the majors this season and leads the MLB with a minuscule 1.92 ERA.
Elder is a Texas native who played high school baseball at Decatur High. Elder was primarily a golf player in his youth after giving up baseball in the fifth grade, but he picked the sport up again as a sophomore and flourished.
Elder then went on to pitch at the University of Texas in college where he garnered All-Big 12 and All-American selections during his three years in Austin.
