With Atlanta smack dab in the middle of a rebuild, John Coppolella made the bold decision to send fan favorite Andrelton Simmons west, manufacturing a deal with the Angels that saw Newcomb as the headliner. Despite his high ceiling and ranking at the time as the 19th best prospect in the game, he was not without his warts, and Braves fans were quick to focus on these rather than his potential.
