Weekend Digest: Bryant finally makes debut; MLB to investigate drug tests; Axford takes leave

MLB news from the past week.

After all the moaning and complaining by the PA about Bryant being kept in the minors, he finally made his debut on Friday against San Diego and James Shields in front of the home crowd. Those who expected a 5-5, 3-HR game were sorely disappointed as Bryant struck out three times and was 0-4 overall in a 5-4 loss. Bryant's debut wasn't all bad; he made some nice plays on defense that had the crowd cheering, first by starting a double play and then making a diving catch in the fifth. Overall, it wasn't a great debut, but it could've been worse.
