Weekend Digest: 2015 Winter Meetings

Heyward spurned the Cardinals and Nationals (thank goodness) to sign an eight-year contract worth $184 million on Friday. The contract includes two opt-out clauses, the first in 2018 and the second in 2019. According to Ken Rosenthal, both the Cardinals and Nationals offered $200 million, and some Cardinals "fans" took to Twitter to vent their frustration: many of them involve wishing physical injury or crying about loyalty, or even calling him greedy. Stay classy.

Before the North Side exploded over the Heyward signing, Ben Zobrist inked a four-year deal with the Cubs worth $56 million on Tuesday.
