Two New Mexico State pitchers selected on Tuesday in Major League Baseball Draft

LAS CRUCES - Former New Mexico State pitcher Ian Mejia became the 67th baseball player from New Mexico State to be drafted.

Mejia was selected No. 335 overall (11th round) by the Atlanta Braves in the MLB Draft on Tuesday.

Teammate Sammy Natera was selected six rounds later, at No. 508 overall, by the Los Angeles Angels.

Mejia was the ace on the Aggies staff in 2022. He was 6-4 on the mound with a 4.29 earned run average.

Mejia was key to the Aggies run to the Western Athletic Conference Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance, saving his best performance for the regional.
