SAN FRANCISCO -- Dian Toscano will not be permitted to play in Minor League games until the United States government provides its final clearance. But the Cuban outfielder was recently cleared to begin working out at the Braves' Spring Training complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Once Toscano is permitted to play games, he will likely steadily work his way through the Minor League ranks before experiencing an extended stay with Triple-A Gwinnett. The 26-year-old outfielder might be added to Atlanta's roster at some point this year. But he will first have to prove himself at the Minor League level and make up for the time he has lost while attempting to complete all of the governmental requirements.
