ATLANTA – How fast is Elly De La Cruz?
"I'm the fastest man in the world," he famously said during his first month in the big leagues last year.
Well, there is that.
But this is how fast he is in Cincinnati Reds history:
When he nabbed stolen base No. 50 in the first inning of Wednesday's opener of a doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves, he reached 50 in a season faster than all but two Reds in history: 102 games.
Only Eric Davis (93 games in 1986) and Dave Collins (93 in 1980) reached 50 in fewer games in a season.
