This Day in Braves History: June 16
1916 - Boston Braves right-handed Salida Tom Hughes throws a no-hitter in a 2-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Braves Field. Six years earlier, Hughes had held the Cleveland Naps without a hit for nine innings before allowing a hit in the 10th and then losing the game in the 11th.
1991 - Otis Nixon records six stolen bases in a 7-6 loss to the Montreal Expos to set a modern National League record and tie the major league mark set by Philadelphia’s Eddie Collins back in 1912.
