This Day in Braves History: June 17
1942 - Paul Waner gestures to official scorer, Jerry Moore of the Boston Globe, not to credit him with a hit on a ground ball in the hole that was knocked down by Cincinnati shortstop Eddie Joost. Waner didn’t want a questionable roller to be the 3000th hit of his career which he would pick up in the team’s next game.
1956 - Joe Adcock becomes the only player to hit a home run onto the roof of Ebbets Field.
