This Day in Braves History: August 18
1915 - The new Braves Field opens in Boston with an estimated 46,500 in attendance to see the Braves defeat the Cardinals 3-1.
1929 - Forty-year old Braves catcher Hank Gowdy, who last appeared in the majors in 1925, records four hits to help lead the Braves to a 10-9 win over the Reds.
1959 - The Dodgers stake Don Drysdale to a 5-1 lead but the Braves chip away and tie it with a run in the 9th.
