1969 - Phil Niekro earns his 20th win of the season for the first time in his career with a 2-1 victory over the Dodgers. With the win, Atlanta climbs into third place in the NL West standings and 1 1/2 games behind the leader.
1980 - Mario Soto strikes out 15 in a 7-1 win over the Braves
1988 - Bruce Sutter joins Rollie Fingers and Goose Gossage as the only pitchers to save 300 games as the Braves defeat the Padres 5-4 in 11 innings.
