1976 - Ted Turner completes his purchase of the Atlanta Braves for $12 million as a means of providing sports programming for his local channel 17.
2008 - The Braves acquire outfielder Mark Kotsay from the Oakland A’s in exchange for pitchers Joey Devine and Jamie Richmond. Kotsay appears in 88 games for the Braves hitting .289/.340/.418 before he is traded to the Red Sox for outfielder Luis Sumoza.
