This Day in Braves History: August 1
1953 - Warren Spahn allows just one hit in a 5-0 win over the Phillies. The outing is Spahn’s 31st career shutout.
1954 - The Braves brawl with the Dodgers after Clem Labine beans Joe Adcock in the fourth inning. Gene Conley retaliates by knocking down Jackie Robinson in the sixth. Robinson ends up in an altercation with Eddie Matthews. The Braves go on to win 10-5 and extend their winning streak to 10 straight.
