This Day in Braves History: December 1
1912 - Boston Braves owner James Gaffney purchases the Allston Golf Club on Commonwealth Avenue with a plan to construct a ball park there. Ground breaking will be held on March 20, 1915.
1998 - The Braves sign outfielder Otis Nixon to a one-year deal. Nixon would appear in 84 games in 1999 hitting .205/.309/.232 with 26 stolen bases in his final season in the majors.
