The wait for the return of Major League Baseball continues but a new battle could be on the horizon. After a couple of days of optimism that the league and the Players Association might be able to find common ground, that came to a screeching halt. The league informed the union Friday that it will not make a counter-offer to the union’s 70-game proposal according to a report by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich. The league will instead meet with owners this weekend to discuss their options moving forward and could try to implement a shorter 50-game season instead.
