The Daily Chop: Freddie Freeman homers, Charlie Morton ready and more

Charlie Morton tossed three more scoreless innings Sunday and appears ready for the 2021 season. Morton was Atlanta’s big pitching acquisition this offseason and they are hoping he can bring some stability to what should be a much improved starting rotation.

Freddie Freeman struggled most of the Grapefruit League season but showed signs Sunday recording a double and an opposite field home run off lefty Jeffrey Springer.

“He was saying even with his strikeout, he felt good,” Brian Snitker said of Freeman. “So, hopefully, it’s perfect timing.”

The Braves have two more Grapefruit League matchups remaining against the Boston Red Sox before heading north.
