One of the big dominoes of the offseason fell late Friday night with the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies reaching an agreement on a trade for third baseman Nolan Arenado. The deal is still pending approval and it may take several days to complete, but when the dust settles, The Cardinals will get Arenado and approximately $50 million from the Rockies for several lower level prospects.
While the Braves were rumored to have checked in on Arenado, a deal was never likely given that this was much more about taking on the financial commitment than it was about the return.
