The Braves did manage to play their series opener against the Phillies on Saturday evening, but the game did not go exactly as the team had hoped as the offense went completely quiet against Jake Arrieta in Atlanta’s 5-0 loss.
Aside from a pretty crummy offensive performance outside of a multi-hit game from Adeiny Hechavarria, one positive for the Braves from this game was the performance of Kyle Wright. He made a couple of mistakes that J.T. Realmuto and Jay Bruce made him pay for, but overall the start was encouraging on a number of levels including that he pitched six innings.
