The Daily Chop: Beatdown in St. Pete, Folty designated, Alonso restricted, and more

The Braves were unable to replicate their success from the weekend on Monday. The thundering bats that appeared on Sunday made an appearance in brief stretches as Atlanta scored five runs, but Mike Foltynewicz and the pitching staff were annihilated by the Rays. Foltynewicz gave cause for concern in his tuneup start against the Marlins last week as he barely touched 90 MPH with his fastball, which he attributed to the weather. In Tampa, where the Rays play in a dome, the right-hander once again struggled to produce consistent velocity and paid for it dearly.
