Major League Baseball reportedly reached out to the Players Association recently and floated the idea of a delayed start to the 2021 season that would result in a regular season of around 140 games and likely prorated salaries. That idea was quickly rejected by the union who insist they will be ready for a normal spring training and a normal 162 game season. While the situation with the ongoing pandemic might necessitate a shortened season, prorated salaries is a non-starter for the union at this juncture.
With that as the back drop, Major League Baseball has reportedly told managers to prepare for spring training to start on time in mid-February.
