ATLANTA -- Given a chance to take advantage of Rich Hill's command issues Monday, Braves manager Brian Snitker called for a sacrifice bunt, knowing successful execution might force him to lift starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz after just four innings.
Kurt Suzuki made the plan a successful one when he delivered a fourth-inning, pinch-hit single that gave the Braves a 2-1 lead over the Dodgers in Game 4 of the National League Division Series at SunTrust Park.
Foltynewicz yielded Manny Machado's first-inning RBI double, then pitched around potential trouble in each of the three innings that followed.
