A Friday in Florida featured the Braves in their first split-squad action of the day. Let's start with the good news first: someone, somewhere (but not me) has presumably confirmed that Dian Toscano is a real, live, carbon-based, breathing person. The bad news, well, there was a lot of it to go around.
The more exciting game of the two was played on in Jupiter, where the Cardinals played host to a traveling contingent of Braves. Rotation hopeful Jhoulys Chacin looked pretty great in his start, scattering three hits and one walk across three innings. Chacin punched out two and looked generally carefree and in control, more like a savvy veteran just getting his work in, rather than a fringe major leaguer struggling for a roster spot.
