Atlanta Braves rookie pitcher Ian Anderson proved that how you start is as important as you finish.
Anderson pitched five shutout innings, striking out eight Miami Marlins batters and earning a 2-0 National League Division Series win Wednesday afternoon at Minute Maid Park in Houston.
It was the second postseason victory for the Shenendehowa grad and 2016 No. 3 overall pick by the Braves.
Anderson gave up three hits over 5 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts and one walk.
He has notched 17 strikeouts without giving up a run in both starts, joining former Brave Steve Avery as the only two pitchers to throw five or more scoreless innings and record at least eight strikeouts in their first two postseason appearances.
