The Atlanta Braves announced Tuesday that catcher Shea Langeliers and pitcher Bryce Elder are their Minor League Players of the Year.
Langeliers is the team’s Hank Aaron Award winner as the club’s top minor league position player. He spent the entire season with Double-A Mississippi and was a key piece of their championship season. He hit 22 home runs and finished with an .836 OPS. Langeliers is regarded as one of the best defensive catchers in the minors and threw out 28 of 69 potential base stealers (50.6%). He was the Double-A South Player of the Week for June 25-30 and put together a 13-game hitting streak from July 24-August 13.
