The Kansas City Royals lost their game to the Atlanta Braves Friday but celebrated anyway.
The Royals broke out the champagne and cigars to celebrate their berth into a MLB Wild Card playoff Friday after completing their game with the Braves at Truist Park. It’s the team’s first time back to post-season play since they won the World Series in 2015.
The playoff berth came courtesy of the Minnesota Twins losing Friday to the Baltimore Orioles which tipped the scales in favor of the Royals in the American League standings. They are third behind Baltimore and Detroit in the wild card race.
